Some reflections on reopening...

I feel a little bit like I've just awoken from a really weird dream except some of the weirdness has followed me into my waking life.
I have been so happy to be back at work these past few weeks. Seeing clients has been more like greeting old friends. I've been fascinated by everyone's take on their lock-down experiences. I can't help but think of the analogy that we've all been going through the same storm but in different boats.

While I'm happy to be back at work I've had to adapt to a whole new, slightly weird, world. I'm getting used to the masks and shields and have a whole new respect for the principles of condensation and foggy glasses!
I was able to do a dummy run before opening and that proved to be most helpful. It's one thing to think of a theoretical protocol, reality can be a bit different. For example the first time I put on the face shield with the mask I found I couldn't see the skin of my client to even start electrolysis. I learned there is a great difference in the quality of different face shields! Now it's much better.
I also realized how important it is to get regular breaths of fresh air when you're wearing masks and shields all day. I now have more gratitude than ever for the front line workers wearing masks full time.
I'm also learning more about skin care. Wearing the mask all day has introduced me to maskne, the acne caused by all that trapped moisture. I'll write more in a later blog about the skin care issues arising from the changes in our lives and what you can do about them.
The one thing that hasn't changed for me is the love I have for what I do. Being able to help people and the connection with my clients is as strong as ever, Happy to be back working with "SKIN".
